Café Scientifique – The Truth about Bats and Rabies

November 21, 2018 - 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Cafe scientifique nov 21

Bats play a very important role in our urban and rural ecosystems and are currently threatened due to a deadly fungus that is sweeping through North America. Bats in B.C. can also carry the rabies virus that can be fatal for people and their pets if not treated in time.

Join us for discussion and dessert as we explore the critical role of bats and what we can do to help resident populations. We will also discuss many facets of rabies in bats: How common is it in BC? How is it transmitted, detected, and prevented? Come out and learn what you can do to protect bats from harm but also to protect your family and your pets from rabies.

Time: 7:00pm–9:00pm (doors open at 6:45pm)
