How to be a Better Ally in Research and Study

September 16, 2020 - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

In this session, participants will learn what it takes to build a respectful and inclusive communit by focusing on practices and policies that centre equity and diversity. Beginning with a discussion of the terms equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), the group will explore how EDI matters in the work and research spaces at UBC. This is followed by an examination of bias and microaggressions, how they manifest and what we can do about them.

Led by Rachael Sullivan from the Equity and Inclusion office at UBC and taking place September 16th from 10am-12pm, this session will draw from a variety of perspectives and utilize interactive learning to help build skills to bring into the research and workplace.
