Oxford Nanopore MinION Sequencing Bootcamp

This May, Vancouver is hosting the first Canadian edition of PoreCamp – a training bootcamp designed to get attendees comfortable with using the Oxford Nanopore MinION sequencing platform. The week-long camp, which has sold out, attracted so much interest that we decided to add a one-day “Highlights” version of the camp, running all-day on Friday, May 4 at UBC’s Michael Smith Labs. Registration to this event is now open to anyone in the local life sciences community!
The PoreCampHighlights workshop is ideal for:
- researchers not yet working with the MinION but interested in its potential
- researchers whose schedules or budgets might not permit attending the full course
- anyone who missed the application call for the full camp
The workshop will be a unique opportunity to learn about generating and analyzing MinION data from some of the leading experts in the field – Drs. Nick Loman (University of Birmingham, UK), Josh Quick (University of Birmingham, UK), Matt Loose (University of Nottingham, UK), Jared Simpson (Ontario Institute for Cancer Research), and Lauren Cowley (Harvard University) will join local hosts John Tyson (UBC) Jennifer Gardy (UBC/BCCDC), David Ng (UBC), Robin Coope (BCGSC), and Steve Pleasance (BCGSC).
Registration, which includes the workshop, coffee breaks, and a cocktail reception (lunch is on your own), is $150CAD and registration will remain open until April 27, or until all places have been filled. Only 26 tickets are still available, so register soon!
