Join SCWIST in supporting our local soccer team, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, in their upcoming match against the New York Red Bulls onSaturday August 18th, 2018 with up to 40% off the ticket price!
The Whitecaps FC soccer games are a wonderful family-friendly day out, and the Whitecaps have reached out to SCWIST to invite us along. The analysts at the Whitecaps have seen that current attendance demographic statistics show that the crowd is approximately 40% women in regular attendance – and while it is wonderful to hear that so many women are attending, there is still work to do! SCWIST have teamed-up with Whitecaps FC as we believe they are doing a great job of working towards addressing the imbalance of opportunity for women in professional sports. Did you know that Whitecaps FC have partnered with BC Soccer and Canada Soccer to launch the first Women’s Regional EXCEL Centre in Western Canada? The aim of their EXCEL program is to empower girls showing the highest levels of ability and, through a six-year program, encourage, inspire and teach them to improve their skills in the hope of joining our Women’s National Team.
