Join us for our annual Science Spooktacular Halloween Event!

Science Spooktacular is an afternoon of spooky science fun for all ages presented by Science in Action and the Faculty of Science. Come out and see some Creepy Creatures and play with some Halloween-y hands-on science activities on the 3000 level of the Academic Quadrangle.

Halloween costumes are encouraged!

We will present the Phantom Physics and Cryptic Chemistry show twice at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM in Shrum Science Centre lecture hall B9200.

In addition, this year there will be a glass-blowing workshop, “Hot Glass Cool Science” at 2:00pm in B9201.

Free Admission to the event, but registration is required for the Science Shows as well as the glass-blowing workshop.

Limit of 6 tickets per person for each show. Please do not reserve tickets for both the 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM Phantom Physics and Cryptic Chemistry shows. Duplicate reservations will be removed.

Please note your seats will only be reserved up until 15 minutes before the start of the show. Please ensure you are seated at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the show to keep your place.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes. Please print out your ticket to attend the event.

What if we can’t get the tickets to one of the shows?

You should come anyway. Due to no-shows, we can usually get everyone into one of the two shows, even if you have not reserved seats ahead of time. There will also be lots of fun spooky science activities to do in the hallways.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking

• Complimentary Parking is provided in the East Parking Lot all day on Oct. 26th. This is just a quick walk from the Academic Quadrangle.

Transit

• SFU is served by four bus routes: the 95 B-line (formerly 135), 143, 144, and 145. For more information on routes, scheduling, etc. please see Translink’s webpage.

Car Sharing

• Car sharing services provide vehicles for a fee to invidivuals for short term use.
• Three car sharing companies have partnered with SFU Parking and Sustainable Mobility to bring their vehicles to SFU’s Burnaby campus: ZipCar, EVO, and Modo.
• ZipCar is located in the West Parkade, in the Upper Level of East Parking, and in the Residence Main lot.
• Evo has reserved stalls in the West Parkade, and in the Upper Level of East Parking; Evo overflow parking is designated to the rooftop level of the West Parkade, and to the lower levels of the East Parking Lot.
• Modo is located in the Residence Main Lot.
