Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST) Pub Night
February 12, 2019
Our signature SCWIST Pub Night is back in 2019! This year they will be on the second tuesday of every month, and will be at a new venue: The Railway Club. Longtime fans of the Pub Night will remember this is where it all started, so it feels great to return to this great venue.
Speaker: Adriana Suarez-Gonzalez
Business Development & Marketing Manager
GenXys Health Care Systems
Adriana is the proud business development manager at GenXys, the first and only company to develop software for precision prescribing, including pharmacogenetics. She dreams of the day when everyone has easy access to genomics and can use it. It’s that passion that’s shaped her career, from being a scientist discovering the fundamentals to joining a startup to take scientific breakthroughs from the bench to market. For her Ph.D., Adriana used cutting-edge genomics and identified genetic markers associated with traits of ecological and economic interest with great potential for forest management in the face of climate change. Today, she and her team at GenXys are on a mission to power every prescription, globally, with their software to reduce the burden of inappropriate prescribing on patient safety, quality of care and health care budgets. Adriana is a strong supporter of inclusive workplaces and led the creation of the 1st genomics hackathon in Canada with a focus on inclusivity. She served on the Board of Directors of the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST) and advises incubators to create more diverse and inclusive ecosystems.
Topic: Personalized Medicine
Come meet new people and find out what SCWIST is all about is you’re not already a member. Bring an idea of something people can help you achieve or an opportunity you’re looking for in 2019. We’re always ready with advice, resources, or connections to support our community.
We will gather in the Games Room at The Railway Club, so it will be a quieter space to chat (AKA not your typical noisy pub night.) You are welcome to buy food and drink but there is no requirement to do so. This event is open to all who wish to join. Please note: This event is accessible by stairs only at the entrance and there are stairs down into the Games Room as well.
