Vancouver STEMMinist Book Club Reads “The Vagina Bible” by Dr. Jen Gunter
January 17, 2021
In our 10th meeting of the Vancouver STEMminist book club, we will be reading “The Vagina Bible” by Dr. Jen Gunter, an American based (Canadian) OB/GYN. This book took 2019 by storm topping both Canadian and American best seller lists. Our third guest host, Kirsten Campbell who is a regular book club attendee, will lead the discussion. We’re sure to learn about fact-based women’s health, and to have some good laughs along the way!
Come join our conversation and learn with us!
We will do a quick overview of the book at the beginning of the session followed by a deeper discussion. It is suggested to read the book, but we welcome you to attend and contribute to the discussion either way. Not a scientist? Not a woman? No worries! All voices, perspectives, and listeners are welcomed.
We will meet again on Zoom since our last meetings went well using this platform. Future events will be in person and or on Zoom depending on the availability of space and safety considerations.
“The Vagina Bible” is available in book (softcover), ebook, and audiobook options. Copies are likely available at your local library. Vancouver Public Library has all version available to borrow.
Next Book March 2021: The Glass Universe, by Dava Sobel
Additional Upcoming books: Weapons of Math Destruction, by Cathy O’Neil (May 2021)

About the STEMminist Book Club Vancouver chapter:
The plan is to mirror the STEMminist Bookclub that was started in Australia by Dr. Caroline Ford (@DrCFord). We will aim to read one book every two months followed by an in-person meeting here in Vancouver, BC. You are also able to contribute to the discussion online on twitter @stemminist / #stemministbc (we don’t always read the same book as the online discussion).
If you are interested in the contributions of women to science, learning more about the history of science, and want to talk about some of the issues and stories brought up in the books this is the book club for you!
** SCWIST has made a commitment to sponsor upcoming Vancouver STEMminist Book Club events. Attend a SCWIST event and you may be a lucky recipient of one of our up-coming books. **
