Virtual Science Slam: Science Writers and Communicators of Canada Edition

Building on this year’s Science Slam Canada and the Science Writers and Communicators of Canada (SWCC) conference, we’ve handpicked a selection of fantastic talks from across the country around the theme of Bridging the Divide.
For those of you who have never experienced the wonder of Science Slam, welcome! This is Canada’s most epic science showdown. Sit back, relax, and watch as our competitors battle to achieve science communication fame and glory.
What exactly is a science slam? Based on the format of a poetry slam, a science slam is a competition where speakers gather to share their science with you – the audience. Competitors have five minutes to present on any science topic without the use of a slideshow and are judged based on communication skills, audience impact and scientific content. Props and creative presentation styles are encouraged!
The virtual event will run from 2:30-4:00pm EDT. Tickets are available to the general public at our $10 regular rate, $5 budget rate, or $15 supporter rate. Revenue from the event will be used to support Science Slam Canada’s future virtual and community programming.
